Welcome to

**My latest antenna project beginning August 27th - 28th, 2021 finished!**

(About the Pic's and info below here)
And so.. the thinking and preparing beginz!!
Finally got my 8 element 2 meter cubical quad antenna! Excellent craftsmanship and simple to put together also. Have not used it to talk with anyone yet. But that will be soon with my adding more here along with these pics. Photos below are from start of putting together, and where its at now.

(Pic below here info)
The way the beam came out of the shipping box. Nice, clean and simple. Boom is 8 feet long, 1 inch square hollow fiberglass 1/8 inch thick. All holes pre-drilled, etc.

(Pic below here info)
Center of beam, hardware, clamps, elements, wires, etc..

(Pic below here info)
This shows the SO239, how it was made and hooked to element wire. Nice strong waterproof job of it too!

(Pic below here info)
On tri-pod and ready to start assembly. The left end is where reflector starts and goes to the right when eventually completed.

(Pic below here info)
Close up of boom to mast configuration. 2 inch clamps, brackets, pipe, and/or PVC will
fit thru it also.. FYI.

(Pic below here info)
Just lookin from back towards front of boom beam. Noticed that all 8 elements spacing
are 12 inches apart.

(Pic below here info)
Reflector spreaders mounted through back end of boom. Its loop wire for it, temporarly hanging in center, until the end tips are mounted on each end of spreaders to hold wires in place.

(Pic below here info)
Close up view of how the spreaders are held in place on the boom. 4 clips, 1 on each side. Yes.. even the spreaders are pre-drilled and clips included.

(Pic below here info)
There are little plastic tip wire guides that go on each end of all the spreaders. (Except for one place on the driven loop). Close up view of them. They do not fit snuggly on the spreader ends, so used 2 inch piece of masking tape wrapped around to hold them in place and lined up right for when putting loop wires on.

(Pic below here info)
End view of reflector spreaders, tips taped on, installed and ready for wire.

(Pic below here info)
Reflector wire on. Nice tight loops of them too. It is solid insulated wire, guessing either 14 or 12 AWG.

(Pic below here info)
Director spreaders and tips on, with drivin wire and connector also. The SO239 connector, does not require having one on those plastic end tips on it. There is special little hole pipe in the housing for the SO239. Of course, feading it from the bottom to use for horizontal polarization, 2mtr SSB.

(Pic below here info)
This is how the drivin loop and SO239 fit in on to the spreader bar.

(Pic below here info)
First director, speaders, tips and wire on now.

(Pic below here info)
First 4, of 8 left to go! This is reflector towards the front.

(Pic below here info)
Turned boom around so the reflector is at the far end, so to work from middle towards front.

(Pics below here info)
Got 6 of them on now! Only 2 more to go!

(Pic below here info)
Yeowzuhh! Finally got all 8 elements on now! Everything lines up nice and straight too! No problems whatsoever! For me, taking my time at it, was about an hour to an hour n 15mins to assemble it all.

(Pic below here info)
Lookin through it all from front towards back of beam.

(Pic below here info)
Just another view of it completed and ready to go up on roof, etc.

(Pic below here info)
OK.. up on roof and have beam all mounted, coax on, pointing the right way with rotor zero point, everything pinned so they do not slip from push up mast, all the way through to the beam!

(Pic below here info)
This is not all the way up in the air just yet. Lookin up from ground at antenna before I get to pushing the whole thing way up yonderz!

(Pic below here info)
This another view of it all from the ground up. Still gotta push the whole works up yet.

(Pic below here info)
Another zoomed in view from the ground.

(Pic below here info)
Another view zoomed in from ground level with it all the way pushed up now at 40 - 45 feet. Of course, the half moon was just in the right place for the picture too!

(Pic below here info)
Its finally all the way up yonderz now!

(Pic below here info)
Just zoomed in a little closer for a total view of it all.

(Pic below here info)
Camera zoomed in with a little bit better lighting on it up high.

(Pic below here info)
Another view of it all here. Ready for the first try of it with 2 mtr SSB Southern Utah Round Table Net on Sunday August 29th, 2021 @ 7:00 pm MST.

More information to eventually come.. Stay tuned!
